The priest gives the final blessing...sending us off to do good works and to continue celebrating the love of God in our lives.

After the blessing, it is customary for the priest and those involved in the Mass in a special way, to formally process out of the Chapel.

Usually a hymn or song with a bright and cheery melody and solid beat is used to make sure everyone finishes up in a bright and positive frame of mind.

Australians seem to have a problem with displays of emotion, so our farewells or 'blessings' are usually very low key and very brief ...'Catch you later'...is rather typical.

The formal farewell or blessing at the end of Mass, however, can be quite elaborate and at time quite personal.

This picture tries to capture two good friends wishing each other well

Look up some typical formal blessings and write out one of your own or one you like.

The average time for a class mass is about 40 to 45 minutes.

If you understand what is going on and have tried to contribute in some way, then the experience should be constructive for you

We hope that this short program has helped you in our efforts to involve you in the Eucharist at Sacred Heart.

May the Spirit of God come to you and remain with you for ever!
